Meet the CEO at Ashay by the Bay
Hi I am Deborah Day CEO at Ashay by the Bay.
A friend talked me into doing this blog, but the truth is I can hardly keep up with my Facebook, Twitter and Linked In. (I promise to update all very soon.) But there is much to talk about now and I think a blog might be a good idea. Ashay by the Bay is the name of my business. If you have never visited my online store, www.AshayByTheBay.com, I think you will be happy to find a nice selection of Black Children's Books and books for you and your family. I say I have the Largest Independent Selection of African American and Multi-Cultural Children's Books, and I think this is true depending on who you talk to and from what angle. But I also say that I am The #1 Black Children's Bookstore! (Another one of my famous tag lines. What confidence!) But check our our Special Deals!
Any way, I am an Entrepreneur, Author, Publisher, Mentor and Bookseller. I wrote the books Mindful Messages Healing Thoughts for the Hip and Hop Descendants from the Motherland in 2004. (I never got a chance to really celebrate this effort because someone stole my files and bootlegged my book on Amazon). However, from there, I started the Mindful Messages Mentoring Program (now 10 years ) in West Oakland. It is based on Africentric curriculum for (Ages 8-14) and next summer we are finally going to take our trip to Washington DC and will visit the New National Museum of African American History and Culture. This program is near and dear to me and every summer the kids practice Swahili and they sharpen their entrepreneurial skills during their business workshops. Yesterday, at the Black Cowboy Parade and Festival in Oakland, some of the kids marched in the parade for the first time! Here is a pic. I am so proud!
. I will be blogging to make new announcements, introduce new books, promote events, keep you up to date on my companies progress and or to just share my thoughts. Ok, and here is the next big news!
