ABOUT US
Welcome to Ashay By The Bay
Ashay By The Bay is an independent company owned and operated by Deborah Day. She opened the business in 2000 and began selling books at various events in the Bay Area. In 2002 she established Ashay by the Bay online, specializing in African American and Multi-Cultural Children’s Books, Baby-3 and K-12.
Today we sell a diverse selection of culturally relevant books to both the consumer and business markets throughout the United States. Our book collections range from Baby-3 and K-12 and Adult. We also offer Online Book Fairs and Gift Cards. Our home office is located in Vallejo, California.
Our mission is to uplift literacy and provide culturally relevant books for families, educators and schools. We understand the responsibility of empowering our youth with positive images and stories about themselves and their African American heritage. In the past, racism and discrimination limited our children’s opportunities, miseducated our communities and hindered our nation’s growth. Today, we must learn from each other and inspire a love for reading and culture that reflects the diverse voices and stories that make up our world, ensuring that every child can benefit, thrive and succeed.
