CEO'S FIRST TRIP TO THE MOTHERLAND!

A few weeks ago I returned from my trip to Accra, Ghana.

It was my first time traveling to Africa and it was a most welcome journey.  For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to travel to the land of my Ancestors. (Of course this was both business and vacation.)  I stayed about ten days and traveled with a group of talented Sista's from all over the US.  We had a great tour guide and during our stay we toured throughout the Western part of Accra and along the coasts.   We visited several historical sites including W.E.B. Du Boise's home and the first President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah's Memorial and Monument and the Independence Day Pre-Celebration. (Dubois and Nkrumah were friends and Pan Africanists and fought for Ghana's liberation which finally happened in 1957.)  We also visited the Slave Dungeons at Elmina Castle and at Cape Coast and I learned  more about the shared history. We also met a real Akan Chief and I received my Ghanian name "Abba".

It was an all a new experience. Most enjoyable to me was the time spent at the ocean and the markets, buying art and learning about the people and culture.  (The people are very warm, the food was delicious! and the art amazing!) I highly recommend that Ghana be at the top of your list when planning to travel to Africa.  It is one of the best places to visit and the people will treat you like their own.  Loved it and will be going back again.  If you are interested in going contact: amponsa3@gmail.com Africa Dreamer Tours and ask for the Professor.
